Mirzapur 2: Makers Issue Apology After Author Claims His Novel Dhabba Has Been Misrepresented As ‘Sheer Porno’
It was recently reported that Hindi crime fiction writer Surendra Mohan Pathak claimed that his novel, titled ‘Dhabba’ has been ‘mischievously misrepresented’ in the Amazon Prime series Mirzapur 2 starring Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Shweta Tripathi. He had threatened to take legal action if the makers didn’t remove the sequence from the series. Surendra Mohan Pathak alleged that a certain scene shows Kulbhushan Kharbanda reading ‘Dhabba’ but the content that was being read isn’t the original text of Dhabba, but rather ‘sheer porno’.

Now, the makers of Mirzapur 2 have issued a statement wherein they apologized to author Surendra Mohan Pathak and assured that they will rectify it. The statement by Excel Media and Entertainment reads, “We sincerely apologize for the same and would like to convey to you that this was not done with any malicious intent or to tarnish/damage your reputation. We are aware that you are a writer of repute and your work is held in high regard in the world of Hindi crime fiction.” They further wrote, “We would like to assure you that to rectify this situation, as discussed with you and as per wishes, we will blur the book-cover in the scene or remove the VO within a reasonable time of 3 weeks.”

Take a look at the complete statement below:

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times had quoted Surendra Mohan Pathak saying that the scene defames him as an author, and puts him in a bad light. Speaking about the misinterpretation of his novel, he said, “On the contrary, what is being read is sheer porno, the undersigned cannot even dream of writing, supposedly to titillate the viewers. But in the process, the whole sequence is shown as an excerpt from my novel Dhabba, which amounts to mischievous misrepresentation.” ALSO READ: Mirzapur 2 Fan Review: Netizens 'Loved It'; Are Totally Impressed With Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu And Others
